2013 MEMBERSHIP

 If you or your friends think you would benefit from the experience of playing with the SBS Radio and Television Youth Orchestra, please contact us. In addition to weekly orchestra rehearsals, members of the orchestra benefit from regular tutorials with current members of the Sydney Symphony while preparing for concert performances throughout the year. The SBSYO has a rich history as a touring and television orchestra, with sound and video recording experiences for players. Selected performances are recorded in the SBS Studios, with CDs produced and available for players. The orchestra rehearses on Friday evenings from 6pm to 9pm at the SBS Television Studios, 14 Herbert St., Artarmon.

At the beginning of each year ALL orchestra members (old and new) must complete the Online Membership Details Form. Please note that for reasons of privacy and security, your details are not stored on any online server system.

Annual standard member: $700
Family Membership (2 or more musicians) $1000
Tertiary Student Discount: $50 Earlybird Discount $50

Any single project fee $350 (no discounts)

When making a deposit either electronically or through your local bank branch please be sure to use your surname as the description of the transaction so that we can identify the source of the deposit.
It is prudent to also advise us that the deposit has been made (email the honorary secretary at honsec@sbsyo.org.au).

If you find that your name is not on the security list when you sign in at the SBS Reception, this means that we do not have your details entered in our computer records. Please arrange to immediately submit your information using the Online Membership Details Form.

JOINING THE ORCHESTRA

The Orchestra members are generally aged between twelve and their early twenties. Auditions for 2013 will be held from October 26 - 28, 2012 from November 2-4 (late auditions by appointment) Audition inquiries can be made by completing an Online Audition Inquiry Form. General Rehearsal Information

Rehearsals are generally held on Friday evenings from 6pm (security sign-in from 5pm) at the studios of SBS on the corner of Herbert and Frederick Streets Artarmon (map). You are expected to attend all rehearsals unless the rehearsal schedule does not require you. If, for any reason, you are unable to attend a rehearsal or performance you must advise Mr Tsai personally in advance or (preferably) email well ahead of time.

Timetable for SBS shuttle-bus from ground level, SBS Carpark to Sydney Town Hall Station (drop off York Street): 7.05pm 7.40pm 8.15pm 8.50pm (Mon-Thurs) 9.05pm (Fri only, for orchestra members) 9.40pm & 10.10pm.
